How To Use a Protank Coil Head In an Aerotank Clearomizer

I love the Kanger Aerotank.  It solved one of the problems with vaping that used to tempt me back to analog cigarettes, which was the mess and leaking.  The only downside was that there was a huge loss of flavor between the Protank and Aerotank.  It was worth it though since the Aerotank is much more dependable and travel friendly.  I live in a city where the altitude varies wildly, so I needed something that could go from the mountains to the bay without filling my purse with ejuice.

Over time though, another problem popped up with the Aerotank.  It’s not very backwards compatible.  If you remember, I bought some GS eGo II Twist 2200mah batteries.  The Aerotank fit them perfectly, but I couldn’t use a coil less than 2.1Ohms dependably.  Even then, neither the flavor nor the vapor was enough.  So I was stuck having to reserve the Aerotanks for more powerful mods and batteries.  They didn’t work at all with my favorite old mods, the Vamo 5 or the iTaste SVD.  I wasn’t sure why.

Reddit saved the day.  While browsing around, I saw that some were experimenting, and the dual coil was most of the problem.  It requires too much power because the battery has to fire two coils instead of just one.  It takes double what a single coil does, and honestly doesn’t produce much more vapor.  So someone posted instructions in text on how to use Protank single coil heads in an Aerotank clearomizer.  Here’s how things turned out when I tried it.

As you can see, the performance was much better with the Protank single coil.  Both the flavor and the vapor production are just better.

So here’s what you do:

How to modify a Protank single coil to fit in an Aerotank clearomizer.Take the caps off an old Protank and an old Aerotank coil head.  Make sure they are clean.

Take a new Protank single coil head, and put the Protank cap right on top of the one that’s already on there.  Don’t press it down.  Just let it sit there right on top.

Then put the little Aerotank cap on top of that.  Then prime it and use it.

You may or may not need the little Aerotank/dual coil cap.  For some, it’s a little too much, while for others it works better than just the two Protank caps.  By the way, this method also works for the Genitank.  With the Genitank, just the extra Protank cap is enough.  So far, I haven’t experienced any problems or leaking with this.  If you try it, let me know and how it worked for you.

Happy vaping! 🙂
